Digital Painting: Limited Color palette portrait

Portrait 3 – Three Color Palette (originally analogous palette)
Create a color palette with only three colors and then paint a self-portrait. You may blend back and forth between the three colors, but only the three colors. No additional white or black is allowed. Take a screen shot of your progress every 10 to 15 minutes and document the time spent on your portrait.

Illustration 3: Editorial Page Spread

Here is my work on my editorial about the Hawaiian bees going on the endangered species list. It took a few tries, and I have a previous revised sketch to prove it. Enjoy!

IL338: Digital Painting; Project 3 basic line/Gray values poses

I've been meaning to post my art pieces for the model session back in September. Here are four of my basic line sketches with only the value of the "page" to define the contrast from the brush I was using.

Here are six of my value poses where I used a gray background alongside blacks and whites to create a more defined model during these five minute poses.

Digital Painting: Portrait 4; No blending

Portrait 4 – Any Palette (without blending)

The palette for this portrait is open to any and all colors, but no blending is allowed. Set brush opacity and flow to 100% and use large brushes to create the large shapes first. Then work down to smaller details using smaller brushes. Take a screen shot of your progress every 10 to 15 minutes and document the time spent on your portrait.

I stand corrected, this was far harder than any of the others I did, mostly because my meticulous side broke through. Anyway, enjoy!
